Dear Host.
Thursday is February 4, 2010. Exactly two years ago, LA Talk Radio went on the air for the first time and, in hindsight, none of us really knew what we were doing. None of us had been in radio before.
Fortunately, we had the essential passion to build our radio shows into something that people will want to listen to.
I’d like to take this occasion to thank the hosts that came on board on day one, believing in what I had put together in a little executive suite in downtown Los Angeles. The hosts that essentially helped launch the station and made it legitimate were, in no particular order:
TJ McCormack, Johnny Dam, Greg Rempe, Dr. Michelle, Laura Nickerson and her Broad Topics troupe, and Lucia—all of whom are still with us, churning away at the microphone and demonstrating that dedication, faith, and hard work always pay off. Today all of these shows are seeing listenership they could only dream of two years ago.
Since that day, scores of great people have joined the budding radio station, knowing they would receive great exposure and a flexible platform from which to broadcast their unknown wisdom. Some hosts have moved on, but many of you have remained with the radio station for a long time. All the ones who have persisted have seen their shows grow to become one hit after another. We have all become stars in our own way.
I thank you all, veteran and new hosts alike, for your belief in us and the unprecedented loyalty you have shown. It is thanks to all of you that we have become such an ideal destination on the Web (I don’t like to overused superlatives, but I feel we have become a powerhouse in talk radio, Internet or otherwise.)
We’re the right combination, in the right place, at the right time.
We are already seeing dramatic increases in listenership and interest from prospective hosts in 2010, and I feel we are on the verge of something really big. We are here to stay and, we hope, so are you.
